(图解:荷兰的Kapsalon)So I''''ve got the opportunity to go visit almost anywhere I''''d like and I''''m thinking a lot about a few countries in Europe (Poland, Germany, and/or the Netherlands specifically.) Not sure if I can get to all 3 or just 1, but I try and search some things and it''''s very hard to find the info I''''d like to know. What is food like in these countries? Or all of Europe? From what I''''ve read, food seems very different than the USA; both in resteraunts and in stores or supermarkets. Like the US I hear people are surprised by the sugary candy and junk food. Are there doritos, oreos, macaroni, white rice, etc, those things in stores? Sorry if this is dumb question or I sound dumb. I know very little about other places, but do want to learn. I wonder if I will eat in Europe because I am a very picky eater lol.

Every country has their own cuisine so it is sort of hard generalizing some wildly different cuisines. It can even be hard generalizing cuisine from Poland, Germany and the Netherlands since there are plenty of regional variants. Are you going to cook/stay at a place with a kitchen or are you going to eat out? I dont think you can buy American styled mac and cheese here, not ready made at least. Maybe you can make it yourself, but most likely it will be different from proper American mac and cheese. Same thing with Mexican/Tex Mex food, it can be hard to find things that are similar to the American version. It will most likely be a local version with varying degrees of authencity.
Kebabs. Food of the Gods. Kapsalon is from the Netherlands and is a local variety that gets a lot of praise. I havent tried it myself though.Try the local bread and cheese. Most likely better than what you experience in the US.Poland is famous for their soups and bread. Worth a try at least.Go to a large grocery store/supermarket in Germany and check out their sextion of chocolates. It is usually mindblowing. I really liked Zubrowka with apple juice. Try it in Poland! Tastes a bit like apple pie with cinnamon.Go to a bakery, all three countries has amazing pastries.Germany and Poland are very famous for their sausages. If you like sausage you should try their sausages.
2、Judging from american vlogs about living in Poland(波兰)从美国的播客来判断荷兰的生活状况:quality is generally better in europetaste is more natural in europetaste in US enhanced by a fuck ton by various additives-欧洲的食物品质大体上更高-欧洲的食物味道更自然-美国食物的味道是由大量各式添加剂加持过的it''''s hard to get good bread in USthere''''s way more variety in USthere''''s not as many ready food in stores, most people cook themselves or eat outit''''s hard to get mexican food in poland-在美国很难找到优质的面包-在美国,食物类型多出很多-欧洲商店里的熟食不如美国多,大部分人会自己做饭或是在外面吃Are there doritos, oreos, macaroni, white rice, etc, ofc, usually they are a bit more expensive or harder to get (eg. hershey''''s) though“有没有立体脆、奥利奥、通心粉、白米等?”当然有了,但通常它们会更贵一些,或者更难找到(比如好时巧克力)(回复1)It’s not hard to get good bread in the US.(印第安纳)想在美国找到优质的面包并不难。3、I glanced through the other comments and didn''''t see anyone mention this yet.(芬兰)我扫了一眼其他的评论,还没看到有人提到这一点:
If you''''re interested in the local cuisine, avoid McDonalds and ideally follow recommendations by locals if you know any. Or just ask the waiter of the restaurant where you are. 5、There is more than enough junk food here in every supermarket, but there are also more healthy options that are cheaper here than in the States. 6、Doritos aka Tortilla Chips became very popular during last decade.Oreos are pretty common. Macaroni are pretty common.White Rice is most common type of rice here.(斯洛伐克)立体脆,也就是炸玉米片,在过去的十年中变得非常流行了。 If you love Pork, you will love Central Europe. We have so many types of Pork sausages, that you will go crazy lol. Second most popular meat is chicken, especially breasts. Other poultry like Duck or Turkey is common. Fish is kinda common(you know, no sea), we eat it usually during Christmas. Beef is rare and most people I know find lamb smelly and disgusting(I''''ve heard they love it in Central Slovakia though). Our Bread is great as well, so many kinds and so tasty. When it comes to sweets, milk chocolate is the king. The most common supermarkets in Slovakia :Lidl/Kaufland(Germany) - well known for low prices and decent food quality.Billa(Austria) - average food quality, high prices and always have only 1 cashier ready...probably worst supermarket.Tesco(UK) - decent food quality, average/high pricesCoop Jednota(Czech/Slovak) - high prices and good food quality. Well for like 5-7 €, in some restaurants(like Hoffer) you can get : Appetizer, Soup, Main Dish, Dessert and Drink(like coke/pepsi/kofola).Also we do not deep fry everything, we use mainly oven. 7、Quality wise food is way better than in the states. Everything is fresher and healthier. 8、I remember my friend coming back from a trip to the US (specifically wherever the Grand Canyon is), and when I asked how it was, she said the bread was sweet. Their normal sandwich loaves were sweet-tasting, like someone had put sugar in them. She was so disgusted she said if she ever lived there she''''d have to make her own bread which I thought was hilarious. That doesn''''t really answer the question, except to reinforce the stereotype that American food is more sweetened than other places, so take that with a pinch of salt. 9、In Poland - food is amazing. Go to a traditional eastern euro restaurant or a Zapiecek chain - it''''s al delicious. Get some pierogi.
11、The US allows all sort of freaky chemicals to be used in crops that are banned in the EU. It has a lot to do with the powerful lobby of multinational corporations over there, etc, etc. It also means that food is more expensive in the EU precisely because they don''''t allow transgenic crops and other nonsense. Long story short: food in Europe is likely to be healthier and possibly tastier than in the US长话短说:欧洲的食物可能比美国更健康,可能也更美味。12、Bear in mind that in Europe it will probably be a lot different from what you''''re used to because our food safety laws are far more comprehensive and let companies get away with less selling actual inedible shit to people than they do in North America.(拉脱维亚)要记住,欧洲可能和你习惯的地方有很大的不同,因为我们的食品安全法更为全面,而且,那些公司能侥幸出去售卖事实上无法食用的垃圾的情况要比北美少。 13、Asking for food and the first things you name is doritos and oreos hhaahhaah(西班牙)你来询问食物,结果一开口就是立体脆和奥利奥,啊哈哈哈14、Best of the best: Poland: pierrogi Germany: Döner and Hackepeter (last one is strange for an american) Netherlans: Have the most amazing fast food... frikandel -极品中的极品:波兰:波兰饺子德国:土耳其烤肉卷和Hackepeter(后者对美国人来说是挺奇怪的)荷兰:去吃最惊艳的快餐荷兰肉肠吧
But if you go to the netherlands driving to germany is ez... no matter where you stay in nl...但如果你去了荷兰,开车去德国也是很简单的,无论你待在荷兰的哪个部分…15、In germany and poland It''''s good (if you find a nice place and not a tourist trap), but simple. Not many things to choose from and not even close to the variety you may find in France, Italy or spain. I''''m sure that if you go to the expensive restaurants you can find amazing things but i think they don''''t really take care about that part of their culture as much. In the netherlands it''''s just awful, and simple, and not tasty at all. I''''ve only been in Amsterdam so take your own conclusions but yeah. All I''''m saying is that in that part of europe, food is not as big as in other countries like spain or italy, in which food is life我只想说,在欧洲的那些国家,食物的意义并不如其他国家那么重大,比如西班牙或意大利,这两国视食物为生命。16、Picky eater who only eats junk food, gotta love America嘴巴很刁的人,还只吃垃圾食品,会爱上美国的吧。
